Do you dislike sharks? Do you find them to be terrifying creatures capable of ending lives — both fish and mammal — at a moment’s notice? If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, it’s a safe bet that neither of these videos will change your mind. With the 27th annual Shark Week kicking off this Sunday (Aug. 10), Discovery Channel has shared a pair of clips from Air Jaws: Fin of Fury, which chronicles Natural History producer Jeff Kerr’s effort to find the enormous mega-shark Colossus.
In the first video, above, Kerr and his team use a decoy shark nicknamed Parthenope (after one of the Sirens in Greek mythology) to lure nearby sharks. The dangerous part? Someone actually has to lay on the decoy and move it in the water while sharks circle below.
In the second clip, a member of Kerr’s team dives to the ocean floor in a protective vessel nicknamed the WASP, encountering a handful of aggressive sharks, including one baring more than a passing resemblance to the so-called Colossus.
Air Jaws: Fin of Fury kicks of Shark Week at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night on Discovery Channel.
