You don’t even need to hear Ryn Weaver’s debut single to find it impressive — the track was produced by a star-studded team that includes Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos, Charli XCX (“Boom Clap”), Benny Blanco (Kesha, Katy Perry) and Cashmere Cat (who’s remixed the likes of 2 Chainz and Lana Del Rey). Even if you take away the liner notes, “OctaHate” shines all on its own. With breezy percussion and a voice that’s garnered Twitter love from British crooner Jessie Ware, the track captures the feeling of summertime as well as any song-of-the-summer contender does.
