The College of Saint Scholastica

Duluth, MNwww.css.edu
The College of Saint Scholastica, a private school with Catholic roots in Duluth, Minnesota, has significantly increased its enrollment in recent years. It now has about 2,700 undergrads and 1,600 graduate students. The health sciences school is by far the school's most popular, with programs in exercise physiology, health management, health sciences, and social work. But health sciences is just one of six schools, which offer a total of about 75 majors and minors. Nearly all Saint Scholastica students receive some form of financial aid. And on top of state and federal aid, Saint Scholastica gives out grants to half of the student body. The college also pledges to pay for tuition costs after four years of college if a student hasn't earned a degree yet, as long as the student meets certain guidelines. Those include taking a set number of credits per year, maintaining a minimum GPA, and declaring a major by sophomore year. A number of student groups focus on religious study and faith-minded service, but there's a range of other organizations such as Bee's Knees, which maintains a honeybee colony. The college's main campus is in Duluth, but there are also campuses in six other Minnesota towns, plus one in Arizona. About two-and-a-half hours north of Minneapolis, Duluth offers a variety of both cultural and recreational activities on the shore of Lake Superior.
