North Dakota State University-Main Campus

Fargo, NDwww.ndsu.edu
For a public school, North Dakota State University has a surprisingly high percentage of out-of-state students. Tuition and fees for out-of-state students is more than twice that of in-state students. NDSU also has tuition agreements with about half the states for additional tuition reductions. Founded as a land grant university, it remains strong in agriculture and animal sciences. But liberal arts and a wide range of business studies and hard sciences are also strongly represented. With about 12,000 undergrads, there are plenty of extracurricular groups and activities. Football is big here, and the Bison win the FCS National Championship just about every year. At home, the team plays in the 19,000-person Fargodome stadium, an on-campus building owned by the city of Fargo. When the Bison aren't playing, the facility hosts events ranging from rodeos to Justin Bieber concerts. Off-campus, students enjoy the amenities offered by the 200,000-population Fargo-Moorhead metro area, including a 120-store mall and an array of local breweries. Students can ride city buses for free with their Bison ID cards. The campus also sits about one mile away from the picturesque Red River, where students can go fishing and canoeing.
