Molloy College

Rockville Centre, NYwww.molloy.edu
Long Island, N.Y., is home to a number of small liberal arts colleges, but Molloy, a Catholic school with about 3,400 undergrads, stands out as a particularly good value. The school's graduation rate is about 70%, and alumni earnings exceed the national average. It can't hurt that students get lots of attention -- the student-faculty ratio is so low that most classes have fewer than 20 students. Molloy isn't very diverse; the student body is mainly white and female. About seven-tenths of students get federal loans. Many students also live at home with their parents, which brings down the cost of their education even further. While the large number of commuters limits the campus social scene, Molloy students are generally more focused on building practical career skills in health services, education, or business. Students describe the campus as small and safe, but you always have an easy escape: Manhattan is less than an hour away.
