SodaStream Is Giving Away Free Machines to Some 'Lucky' Customers

Jun 10, 2016

SodaStream disrupted a long-standing bottled seltzer industry by allowing users to do it themselves, and for a long time it didn't face any viable competitors. Last fall, though, coffee pod giant Keurig rolled out a soda-making machine that would have seemed to have been a real threat to SodaStream--if only the Keurig Kold sold for a reasonable price, rather than the lofty $370 it was listed at.

This week, Keurig's ill-fated attempt to get into the DIY seltzer and soda industry was killed, after months in which the machine just didn't get any love from shoppers.

There is a silver lining, however, for the (few) people who bought a pricey Keurig Kold. They may be losing the support of their expensive machines, but they can get a free SodaStream in the aftermath.

Taking pity on Kold owners, who mistakenly supported the Betamax of seltzer, SodaStream will award coupon codes redeemable for a free SodaStream Fountain Jet ($80 value). All you have to do is take a photo of yourself with the machine and email it to info@sodastreamsupport.com with a name, address, and Kold serial number. Only the first 2,000 people who qualify before June 17 get a free SodaStream machine. Cheers!
