With alumni that include former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and former New York police commissioner Raymond Kelly, Manhattan College is a quintessentially New York City school. (Despite the name, the campus is located just north of Manhattan in the Riverdale section of the Bronx). While the school accepts applicants of all faiths, this Catholic institution does require students in some majors to take at least one course in Catholic theology.

Even B students have a good shot of getting into Manhattan College, where the average student reports SAT scores in the 500s. Once graduated, the students boast average salaries of $55,200 within five years. That’s 18% higher than what’s typical at similar schools, and more than $6,000 higher than the averages reported by graduates of nearby schools such as New York University and Fordham.

Manhattan fields 19 NCAA Division I sports teams, including basketball, baseball, soccer and lacrosse. Major social events of the year include Manhattan Madness, which kicks off basketball season, and Jasper Days, at which Pitbull, Jay Sean, and Gym Class Heroes have performed.
