### FAQ

#### Is a PMP certification worth it?

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is widely considered a valuable certification for project managers seeking to advance their careers. According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey—Fourteenth Edition, professionals with a PMP certification report median salaries 17% higher on average across the 21 countries surveyed than those without it. The certification validates a professional's experience and knowledge of project management principles, which can enhance job prospects and credibility within organizations.

#### What are the best certifications for project managers?

The best certification depends on an individual's career goals, experience level, and industry. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® from PMI is a globally recognized certification for experienced project managers. For those newer to the field, PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a common starting point. Other notable certifications include those focused on agile methodologies, such as the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and program management certifications like the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. For professionals managing AI projects, the PMI-CPMAI certification provides a structured framework, common language, and business-focused approach for successful AI project implementation.

#### How does PMI support career growth for professionals?

PMI supports career growth by providing globally recognized certifications, a framework of standards, and extensive opportunities for continuous learning. Members gain access to a global community for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The organization also produces research and thought leadership on emerging trends, helping professionals stay current with skills in areas like AI, agile practices, and strategic business management. These resources are designed to help professionals at all levels enhance their skills and advance their careers.

#### What is the PMBOK® Guide?

The PMBOK® Guide, or A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, is PMI’s foundational guide to generally accepted project management knowledge and practice. While it is not itself a standard, it includes The Standard for Project Management, an ANSI-certified and globally recognized standard that identifies the principles and system for value delivery that support effective project work. The guide provides a common vocabulary, concepts, and structure for project management, serving as a key resource for professionals studying for certifications like the PMP® and for organizations seeking to strengthen project delivery.

#### How is AI changing project management?

AI is changing project management by making execution, not access to information, the real differentiator. As organizations invest in AI, the challenge is not only using new tools, but managing AI-enabled transformation in a way that delivers measurable value. Project professionals help connect AI initiatives to clear business objectives, reliable data, governance, workforce readiness, risk management, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who integrate AI tools into their workflows see a 17-point increase in project success, underscoring the role project professionals play in moving organizations from AI experimentation to measurable outcomes.

#### What are the most important skills for a project manager?

Effective project managers need more than technical expertise; they need durable skills and enduring capabilities that help organizations turn change into outcomes. As AI reshapes work, the most important capabilities include leadership, communication, critical thinking, systems thinking, business acumen, adaptability, collaboration, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who manage complexity effectively are five times more likely to succeed on complex projects, while project professionals with high business acumen achieve business goals more frequently and experience lower project failure rates.

#### How can I get involved with the PMI community?

Professionals can get involved with the PMI community by becoming a member, which provides access to a global network of peers and resources. Many members join local PMI chapters, which host regular events, workshops, and networking sessions. Online, PMI's projectmanagement.com community offers a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and access to webinars and articles. Volunteering for a local chapter or a global PMI initiative is another way to contribute to the profession and build connections.

#### What is the difference between PMP and CAPM?

The PMP (Project Management Professional)® and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)® are both certifications offered by PMI, but they target professionals at different career stages. The CAPM is an entry-level certification designed for individuals with little or no project experience, validating their understanding of fundamental project management knowledge and terminology. The PMP is for experienced project managers and requires a combination of formal education and years of documented project leadership experience, making it a more advanced and globally recognized certification.

#### How does PMI support social impact?
PMI supports social impact by helping individuals, nonprofits, NGOs, and communities use project management to turn purpose into measurable outcomes. Through the PMI Educational Foundation, PMI expands access to project management education for youth worldwide, including underserved and underrepresented populations. Through Project Managers Without Borders, PMI connects chapters and volunteers with nonprofits and NGOs that need project management expertise to strengthen the effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability of social initiatives. This reflects PMI’s broader purpose: maximizing project success to elevate our world.

Shopping with friends used to be an event. You’d meet a girlfriend or two for lunch, then amble through the mall or down the street together perusing items and sharing opinions about what might look good on the other person or work well in their house. Thanks to Pinterest and a slew of other social shopping sites, you can come close to replicating this online. Here are the websites and apps we like that help you shop with friends virtually.

## Pinterest

Pinterest

Ever since it came onto the scene four years ago, Pinterest has defined the category of visual discovery by letting users create and collect “pins,” or bookmarks, to online content. With a predominantly female user base, the platform features mostly images of food, fashion and home and garden that link to other websites such as recipe blogs or shopping sites. Pinterest is a social network as well, letting you follow the Pinterest activity of friends from Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Gmail and Yahoo (and they yours), as well as strangers who pin material you find interesting. Most recently, Pinterest launched a feature called [Guided Search](http://www.techlicious.com/blog/pinterest-guided-search/) that helps you explore pinned content with similar content; for example, it might suggest “Bachelorette Party” or “Summer” if you search for “little black dress.” If you click on “little black dress,” you can then choose from “all pins” to mine the entire platform or “Just my Pins” if you want to find one you already pinned. Want to make it super simple to pin cool things you find while surfing the web? Install a [Pin It bookmarklet](http://help.pinterest.com/en/articles/add-pin-it-button-your-browser#Web) to your browser. One click sends that content over to Pinterest, which also can be accessed via free [iOS](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pinterest/id429047995?mt=8) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pinterest) apps.

## Wanelo

![](https://static.time.com/v3/assets/bltea6093859af6183b/blt0f0659474cea8d99/69868e47f983e791ae04db2b/wanelo-600px.jpg?branch=production&width=1200&quality=75&auto=webp)

Wanelo

Named with a combination of the words _want_, _need_ and _love_, Wanelo is more of a pure shopping site than Pinterest. You populate your feed with clothing, accessories and home goods images by following other users as well as stores such as Victoria’s Secret, Crate and Barrel and Banana Republic (plus scads of others you probably haven’t heard of). Save items you find to collections you name such as “Things I Like” or “Dresses”; if you click to buy them, you’ll leave Wanelo and go to the store where they’re offered. If you find something you think a friend would like or want someone else’s opinion on an item, you can send it to your friends on Facebook and Twitter if you’ve connected those accounts to Wanelo. Like Pinterest, Wanelo offers [a bookmarklet](http://wanelo.com/about/downloads) you can add to your browser to make it easy to save things to Wanelo, and it’s also accessible via free [iOS](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wanelo-shopping/id550842012?mt=8) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wanelo.android) apps.

## The Hunt

The Hunt

Have you ever found the loveliest outfit that you would never be able to afford or coveted something worn by Angelina Jolie? Or maybe you own an item but can’t figure out what goes well with it. [The Hunt](https://www.thehunt.com/) community will help you find items that are similar or exactly the same as photos you upload from any website or bring in from Tumblr, Instagram or Pinterest. Follow other people’s hunts — items you also wouldn’t mind having — and stay in the loop when people post URLs to websites where you can find them. Even better, become a fashion detective yourself and post a link to a store website that sells something being hunted. The Hunt is available as a free [iOS](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hunt-style-shopping-advice/id676471286?mt=8) app.

## Glimpse by The Find

Glimpse

[Glimpse](http://glimpse.thefind.com/glimpse) mines your Facebook network for product likes and pulls in photos, prices and links where you can purchase them. Save your favorites in catalogs and customize your feed by clicking to subtract product categories and brands you’re not interested in. Glimpse is also accessible via free [iOS](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/glimpse-by-thefind/id516407130?mt=8) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thefind.glimpse) apps.

Sephora

If makeup is your thing, you’ll love Sephora’s [Beauty Board](http://gallery.sephora.com/). The stream of selfies is a fantastic resource for ideas on how to do your makeup, and it gives you quick access via [Sephora.com](http://sephora.com/) to the products people used to come up with these looks. Filter looks according to categories such as Eyes, Lips or Nails and share looks to Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ in one click.

## Luvocracy

![](https://static.time.com/v3/assets/bltea6093859af6183b/blt4232c7dc43a48649/69868e4dcd804d39b6ccabdb/luvocracy-600px.jpg?branch=production&width=1200&quality=75&auto=webp)

Luvocracy

On [Luvocracy](http://www.techlicious.com/blog/luvocracy-share-products-earn-money/), add your favorite items and links to where people can buy them to collections based on any kind of category you want, such as “Spring,” “Organizing Tools” or “Home.” The idea is to earn rewards via money from purchases or royalty checks. When someone you invite to [Luvocracy](http://www.luvocracy.com/) joins the site, you earn 2 percent of their purchases on the platform for one year. You also make 2 percent when someone buys something that you’ve recommended and get royalties when someone re-posts one of your recommendations, although royalties diminish with the distance between your original post and successive re-posts. If you’re popular online — say, you run a well-read fashion blog or have lots of followers on Pinterest — you could qualify for the Tastemaker program and earn up to 10 percent when people buy the things you recommend. A Luvocracy [Chrome extension](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/luvocracy-plugin/fjgmnjaipbniochmghelimamndcklbic) lets you add things to the platform as you find them while you’re surfing the web.

nousDecor

This unique [interior design search engine](http://www.techlicious.com/tip/find-cheap-alternatives-to-high-end-decor/) makes it easy to create and affordably source the home looks you want. Browse photos of room designs and products on collections called moodboards created by [nousDecor](http://www.nousdecor.com/) editors and users. Moodboards include an inspiration image along with a selection of products that fit the room theme. Hover your pointer to see product details, prices and where to find them (including well-known retailers such as Macy’s). Create your own look by uploading an inspiration image (perhaps from Pinterest or Tumblr) and then populating it with things that fit your style. Search by name, color, price or dimensions — or just browse through a list of suggestions. When you’re done, name, categorize and save your moodboard and then ask for design advice from the nousDECOR community.
