When the new–and last–season of Mad Men kicked off with its first episode titled “Time Zones,” viewers didn’t realize the theme would stick around. But as Vulture’s Margaret Lyons notes, the most recent episode “had a particularly strong focus on time.”
Most notable to us at TIME was the issue Don Draper read as he waited to learn if he was going to get his job back at the advertising agency Sterling, Cooper & Partners (which happens to be set in the Time & Life Building). The issue from April 4, 1969, which features a cover about the death of Dwight Eisenhower. You can read a free preview of the story, which is part of our archive open to subscribers, here.
