The University of Connecticut clobbered Notre Dame Tuesday night 79-58 in the NCAA Women’s Final Four Championship in Nashville, rounding up the tournament with a win to match the UConn men’s team title won Monday night.
Breanna Stewart led UConn with 21 points, while Stefanie Dolson scored 17 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. The Huskies led 45-38 at the half, shooting 57 percent from the field in the first final matchup to feature two undefeated teams.
With the Huskies undefeated for the season, head coach Geno Auriemma saw the season game tally rounded out to 40-0, the AP reports.
UConn’s men’s team beat Kentucky in the title game Monday night, making it the only school to win both women and men’s tournaments in the same year.
