#### Is a PMP certification worth it?

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is widely considered a valuable certification for project managers seeking to advance their careers. According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey—Fourteenth Edition, professionals with a PMP certification report median salaries 17% higher on average across the 21 countries surveyed than those without it. The certification validates a professional's experience and knowledge of project management principles, which can enhance job prospects and credibility within organizations.

#### What are the best certifications for project managers?

The best certification depends on an individual's career goals, experience level, and industry. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® from PMI is a globally recognized certification for experienced project managers. For those newer to the field, PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a common starting point. Other notable certifications include those focused on agile methodologies, such as the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and program management certifications like the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. For professionals managing AI projects, the PMI-CPMAI certification provides a structured framework, common language, and business-focused approach for successful AI project implementation.

#### How does PMI support career growth for professionals?

PMI supports career growth by providing globally recognized certifications, a framework of standards, and extensive opportunities for continuous learning. Members gain access to a global community for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The organization also produces research and thought leadership on emerging trends, helping professionals stay current with skills in areas like AI, agile practices, and strategic business management. These resources are designed to help professionals at all levels enhance their skills and advance their careers.

#### What is the PMBOK® Guide?

The PMBOK® Guide, or A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, is PMI’s foundational guide to generally accepted project management knowledge and practice. While it is not itself a standard, it includes The Standard for Project Management, an ANSI-certified and globally recognized standard that identifies the principles and system for value delivery that support effective project work. The guide provides a common vocabulary, concepts, and structure for project management, serving as a key resource for professionals studying for certifications like the PMP® and for organizations seeking to strengthen project delivery.

#### How is AI changing project management?

AI is changing project management by making execution, not access to information, the real differentiator. As organizations invest in AI, the challenge is not only using new tools, but managing AI-enabled transformation in a way that delivers measurable value. Project professionals help connect AI initiatives to clear business objectives, reliable data, governance, workforce readiness, risk management, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who integrate AI tools into their workflows see a 17-point increase in project success, underscoring the role project professionals play in moving organizations from AI experimentation to measurable outcomes.

#### What are the most important skills for a project manager?

Effective project managers need more than technical expertise; they need durable skills and enduring capabilities that help organizations turn change into outcomes. As AI reshapes work, the most important capabilities include leadership, communication, critical thinking, systems thinking, business acumen, adaptability, collaboration, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who manage complexity effectively are five times more likely to succeed on complex projects, while project professionals with high business acumen achieve business goals more frequently and experience lower project failure rates.

#### How can I get involved with the PMI community?

Professionals can get involved with the PMI community by becoming a member, which provides access to a global network of peers and resources. Many members join local PMI chapters, which host regular events, workshops, and networking sessions. Online, PMI's projectmanagement.com community offers a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and access to webinars and articles. Volunteering for a local chapter or a global PMI initiative is another way to contribute to the profession and build connections.

#### What is the difference between PMP and CAPM?

The PMP (Project Management Professional)® and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)® are both certifications offered by PMI, but they target professionals at different career stages. The CAPM is an entry-level certification designed for individuals with little or no project experience, validating their understanding of fundamental project management knowledge and terminology. The PMP is for experienced project managers and requires a combination of formal education and years of documented project leadership experience, making it a more advanced and globally recognized certification.

#### How does PMI support social impact?
PMI supports social impact by helping individuals, nonprofits, NGOs, and communities use project management to turn purpose into measurable outcomes. Through the PMI Educational Foundation, PMI expands access to project management education for youth worldwide, including underserved and underrepresented populations. ## Transcript

Welcome to The Breakdown I'm your host Neha joy and we're here with the top stories of the week from time, fortune, money and sports illustrated. This week, more on the deadly California fires plaguing the state. examine big tax foray into health care, share the best product card hacks to save on Black Friday, and discuss NFL's Thanksgiving tradition. So let's dive in. [ MUSIC ] The deadly fires that ravaged California this November have produced apocalyptic scenes. Leaving trails of severe wreckage. thousands of acres continue to burn as more than a dozen active fires contribute to this state of emergency.

A total of 50 people are reported to have died and more than 230 are unaccounted for as of November 14th, and the state's most destructive fire in history could do more damage. Across the state, more than 8, 000 firefighters have been deployed to battle flames and wind guts of up to to 40 miles per hour. In total a quarter of a million people have been displaced. Northern Sacramental camp fire became the deadliest in California's history as it decimated the towns of Paradise and [ UNKNOWN ] learning there were 135, 000 acres of land and a thousands of homes in its path. Residents captured the frenzied scene on social media as their streets were left in ashes, and homes were reduced to rubble.

At its peak, the fire grew the size of more than one football field every secnod, and as of November 14th, only 35 % of the blaze is contained. In Southern California the Woolsey Fire continues to wreak havoc. Firefighters a forced to battle gusty conditions due to the sharp Santa Ana Winds. The fire broke out in the Thousand Oaks area, which had already been cooping with a mass shooting and caused two deaths. Although it is 47 % contained as of November 14. The Woolsey fire reached the sea side town of Malibu where multimillion dollar homes belonging to celebraties like Liam Hemsworth and Gerard Butler were destroyed.

The entire Malibu community and thousands in Calabasas, including notable residence like Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga were forced to evacuate. And as the Woolsey fire rages on, two new wild fires emerged in Southern California. The larger of the two fires, the Peak fire is contained, but not before it resulted in the closure of Highway 118. This is actually the second round of big dangerous fires in California this year. Mendocino Complex fire sparked and burned more than 459, 000 acres in July. And in August the deadly Carr Fire burned over 200, 000 acres. This seems like a pattern, it is. California Governor Jerry Brown discussed the state's new reality saying this.

This is that the new normal, this is the new abnormal, and this new abnormal will continue certainly in the next 10 to 15 to 20 years. And unfortunately, the best science is telling us that the dryness, warmth, drought, all those things, they're gonna intensify. Wild fires are a natural and annual occurence in California, typically taking place at the end of the long, dry summers. But at the same time the environment has become more flammable. Experts say as the state grows hotter and continues to experience long droughts, and as more people live in high risk areas, the fires will simply get bigger, more severe, and even costlier.

According to Bloomberg, the Camp Fire and Woolsey Fire are expected to result in over $ 19 billion in damages for homeowners, the state, and insurers alike. Well President Trump originally threatened to withhold federal aid he approved an emergency disaster declaration to provide federal resources to communities in need As the fires have grown larger and more intense it seems that assessing who has to pay for them has become an ongoing debate and something I know the state legislature is thinking a lot about right now. Meanwhile, the state is spending more and more to fight fires each year as California fires become a year- round phenomenon.

As wildfires become more severe and commonplace, California's next governor has his work cut out for him, tackling the state's wildfire crisis. [ MUSIC ] Some of the biggest companies in tech are making their moves into US healthcare with titans like Amazon, Apple, Google and Uber sharing their plans to disrupt an industry ripe for change. Sepnding in the $ 3. 3 trillion American Health Care is expected to spike by another 5. 3 % this year. And it's annual trend of price hikes and growing ineffeciences have frustrated providers and patients alike. While Silicon Valley's brightest have succeeded in disrupting industries as far reaching as book stores and taxis, the healthcare system is a different animal altogether.

Healthcare is one of the most complicated industries possible to get involved in. You have federal regulations, you have state regulations. [ UNKNOWN ] You have unseemly complex relationships between the various players in the supply chain. On the other hand, you have to earn consumer's trust when you're engaging in the matters of literal life and death. Each tech company is taking its own approach betting that it's strengths will ultimately improve people's health, or at least make healthcare more efficient. Verily, part of Google's parent company Alphabet, is reportedly trying to break into healthcare management.

And provide health insurance more efficiently. In January, Amazon announced a partnership with JP Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway to lower healthcare costs for its employees. Uber is trying to flip the script on the medical transportation industry, and Amazon spent $ 1 billion to upend the pharmaceutical industry with PillPack. Whether or not tech companies succeed in disrupting healthcare depends on their ability to adapt their technologies to the industry's particular needs. And Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett believes the industry has a significant advantage, saying this to CNBC. Well the goal is to deliver better care and to find ways to take Cost out of the system, while not comparing the quality of what people receive and that's enormously complicated.

It's not going to be easy, but we're determined. We've got the money. We'll stick with it. [ MUSIC ] Tech companies may have a lot to offer, but there are risks. And embracing partners known for moving fast and breaking things To get a deep understanding of complicated healthcare issues that face Americans, Google and joint venture Amazon- JP Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway recruited top healthcare veterans to steer their respective ships. Poaching healthcare talent is probably one of the single most important things that tech companies can do if they truly do want On to disrupt various parts of healthcare.

This is such a complicated field and it requires people who have a firsthand experience with what the regulatory environment is. What it really feels like to provide that front line of care to patients in order to be successful. [ MUSIC ] Tech companies like Apple are known for creating products that people love. But can they actually succeed in driving down or creating a better healthcare experience for Americans? [ UNKNOWN ] disruption can definitely play a major role in bringing down the prices of healthcare. But this is another one of those areas where it's gonna take not just advances in technology, but changes in policy.

[ MUSIC ] While it's way too soon to tell what text impact will be on the industry, it could be possible that Silicon Valley, not Capitol Hill comes up with an answer to the nation's vaccine healthcare problem and not Big Pharma. [ MUSIC ] But there is such a wait in line for hours or staging a silent boycott. There's no escaping Black Friday Mayhem. And this year it looks to be as busy as ever with reports estimating that holiday shoppers plan to spend over $ 700 on average this year. [ MUSIC ] Remaining NFL football and Thanksgiving are synonymous, offering fans a chance to rally the high stable performances by the Lions, and the Cowboys, alongside family and friend. Each November, the NFL holds three Thanksgiving games, providing fans a trio of reasons to be thankful In year's past, the games have guaranteed record breaking moments like the year 1945 when the Rams Jim Benton become the first professional football player to eclipse 300 receiving yards in a 28 to 21 victory over the Lions.

The record still remains as only one of four 300 yard receiving games in the league's history. Or, in more recent memory, in 2004 when Peyton Manning shredded the Lions with his six touchdown passes for the Colts, all before the fourth quarter. Only Bob Griese has ever thrown as many touchdowns during the Thanksgiving game. Matchups have also offered nail- biting performances that serve to be as satisfying as any feast. Like in 2010 when Jets wide receiver Brad Smith held the team lead over the Bangles and returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touch down despite losing his left shoe on the 50 yard line.

[ UNKNOWN ] the Patriots trailed the Lions by 11 points in the second quarter of 2010's game, before Tom Brady through three touch down passes in the span of 13 minutes and 30 seconds Brady completed 21 of 27 passes for 341 yards with no interceptions in that game. Earning him a perfect QB rating of 158. 3 for the second time in his career. While the time honored Thanksgiving games provide great fodder they also can provide some epic laughs. 2012 New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez offered up a funny moment so great, football fans might never forget it. That year the Jets quarterback had no one to hand the ball to on a botched play, so he tried to run it himself.

When he reached his offensive line, he collided with his teammate's backside and fumbled the ball. Officially coining the moment as the **** Fumble. To add insult to injury, Sanchez's drop led Patriots safety Steve Gregory to grab the ball and score a touchdown. With this year's matchups all featuring division rivalry games, what should we expect for the Thanksgiving trifecta, as our editor Gary Gramling is here to discuss. [ UNKNOWN ] thank you so much for joining us, okay. Let's talk about this year match ups workings you are most looking forward to. Yeah, three really good games as you all the [ UNKNOWN ] game, all rivalries all have player [ UNKNOWN ] locations For me though, it's gonna be Washington, Dallas.

NFC East division is wide open right now. Washington leads it, they've already beaten the Cowboys once this year. Dallas is a little bit desperate though. They traded a first- round pick for a wide receiver, Amari Cooper. They are trying to make a run at the Super Bowl. They have to win this game if they're gonna make the playoffs. Now, when you think of Thanksgiving football, what's a memorable game that comes to mind? For me it was 25 years ago, 1993. It was the Cowboys and the Dolphins. It was a weird game anyway because it was snow and ice in Dallas. Which obviously you don't see very often.

It was a close game. The Cowboys were winning late. Dolphins lined up for a potential game- winning field goal Cowboys blocked it. Now if the Cowboys left the field, the game would be over, Cowboys win. What happened with this guy Leon Lett, he was a great player but he was sort of famous for making bone- headed mistakes. He ran up and tried to sort of slide onto the ball and recover it. That made it a live ball. he didn't recover it. The dolphins did. That gave the Dolphins another chance to go out and kick a field goal which they did. Dolphins won. It was the weirdest and probably the wildest finish I've ever seen to a football game.

My god. So kind of a horrible. Memorable game, but still memorable. Horrible for him, fun for me. [ LAUGH ] So speaking of horrible moments, what's a tradition you'd like to end? I really like the fact the Detroit Lions host a game every year. I think that's great. It's great for the city, it's great for the franchise. I just wish they were better [ LAUGH ] one of these years. It seems like every year we watch the early Thanksgiving game and it's kind of, well, who's gonna beat up on the Lions this year? This year it'll be the Bears. The Bears have already beaten them pretty handily in their first meeting this year.

They'll probably beat them again. It would be nice to see the Lions actually have a Good team one of these years and sort of be a premier team and maybe get a win. In your opinion who is the player to watch this year? For me it is Drew Brees in the night game. Drew Brees he holds all these amazing records. He is a future hall of famer. He has won a super bowl. He has never won an MVP aware, which is pretty shocking. He is very much in the running this year. The voters are human. When you have a big game in a prime time spot that everyone's watching that can make a big difference. I think if Brees has a big game against the Falcons on Thursday night I think that could push him over the edge for his first MVP award.

All right, well we'll see how it all plays out Thanksgiving Day. Gary, thanks for joining us. Thanks for having me. [ MUSIC ] And that's The Breakdown for this week. Until next Wednesday, I'm Neha Joy and thanks for joining our weekly roundup. [ MUSIC ] [ MUSIC ]
