Which means that when [season eight](http://time.com/4923212/game-of-thrones-season-7-unanswered-questions/) of the HBO drama finally [airs in 2019](http://time.com/5088555/game-of-thrones-season-8-premiere-date-2/), fans are going to have to say goodbye to each and every one of their favorite characters. And as can only be expected from the show that gave us the [Red Wedding](http://time.com/4624438/game-of-thrones-essential-episodes/) and [“Hold the door,”](http://time.com/4344647/game-of-thrones-bran-stark-hodor-hold-the-door/) it sounds as though not all of those goodbyes will be pleasant ones.
