President Donald Trump on Wednesday [denied reports that he is “angry”](https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/01/us/politics/trump-russia-charges.html?%5Fr=1) about the first charges filed in special counsel [Robert Mueller’s](http://time.com/5003142/republicans-congress-robert-mueller/) investigation into possible collusion between Trump’s team and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

Muller [filed the first charges](http://time.com/5002225/robert-mueller-indictments-paul-manafort/) in his investigation on Monday, [indicting](http://time.com/5002070/paul-manafort-charged-donald-trump-robert-mueller/) Trump’s former campaign chairman [Paul Manafort](http://time.com/5003298/paul-manafort-indictment-donald-trump/?xid=homepage) and his business associate, Rick Gates, on charges of conspiracy against the United States and acting as an unregistered foreign agent, among other charges. [George Papadopoulos](http://time.com/5002832/george-papadopoulos-guilty-plea-indictment/), a former foreign policy adviser to Trump’s campaign, also [pleaded guilty](http://time.com/5002803/george-papadopoulos-guilty-donald-trump/) to lying to the FBI.

“I’m actually not angry at anybody,” Trump [told the New York _Times_](https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/01/us/politics/trump-russia-charges.html?%5Fr=1) on Wednesday, contradicting a [report by the Washington _Post_](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/upstairs-at-home-with-the-tv-on-trump-fumes-over-russia-indictments/2017/10/30/fd0d0b16-bd87-11e7-8444-a0d4f04b89eb%5Fstory.html?utm%5Fterm=.ac6320fccdf9) that described him as “fuming” over the indictments.

Manafort’s indictment doesn’t mention Trump, who told the _Times_ that it “has nothing to do with us.” Trump has sought to distance his campaign from those who were charged. “There is NO COLLUSION!” he tweeted on Monday.

Trump also denied that the news on Monday kept him from arriving in the Oval Office on time. “I’m in the office early and leave late; it’s very smooth,” Trump told the _Times_. “I’m really enjoying it.”
