The book earned its author, William Golding, a Nobel Prize and has since been adapted to theater and stage. But now two male directors, Scott McGehee and David Siegel, have[ a deal with Warner Bros](http://deadline.com/2017/08/lord-of-the-flies-scott-mcgehee-david-siegel-female-cast-warner-bros-william-golding-novel-1202158421/) to write and direct a new version with one important twist: it will be a female-centric remake. McGehee [told Deadline](http://www.snopes.com/william-golding-on-women/) that the subject matter “is aggressively suspenseful, and taking the opportunity to tell it in a way it hasn’t been told before, with girls rather than boys, is that it shifts things in a way that might help people see the story anew.
