[Robert De Niro](http://time.com/4651739/danny-devito-on-jimmy-fallon/?iid=sr-link6) stopped by _Late Night with Seth Meyers_ on Tuesday, and inevitably, there was a bit on President Donald Trump ready for the occasion.

De Niro has been an [outspoken critic of Trump](http://time.com/4636913/robert-de-niro-on-inauguration-boycott/?iid=sr-link4) who [recently praised](http://time.com/4526602/robert-deniro-response-jon-voight-on-trump/) Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech criticizing Trump. Because [Trump called](http://time.com/4628378/golden-globes-2017-donald-trump-meryl-streep/?iid=sr-link4) [Streep](http://time.com/4444268/meryl-streep-florence-foster-jenkins-interview/?iid=sr-link5) “overrated” on Twitter in response, De Niro’s been bracing himself for a possible critique.

Bouncing off the idea that the best defense is a good offense, De Niro created his own parody Trump “mean tweets,” which he recently read at a rally protesting the President. On Tuesday’s episode Meyers read a few of the tweets aloud on his show and they included some real zingers. “De Niro’s career is a disaster. He was passed over for _Godfather 4_ and _The Magnificent Seven._ Pathetic!” Meyers read, followed by: “De Niro should give back his Oscars. Voting was rigged!”

Turns out De Niro is not only a talented actor, but is quite gifted at slamming himself, too.

I mean, he's so blatantly stupid. He's a punk, he's a dog, he's a pig. He's a con, a [ INAUDIBLE ] artist, a mutt who doesn't know what he's talking about, doesn't do his homework, doesn't care, thinks he's gaming society, doesn't pay his taxes. He's an idiot. Colin Powell said it best. He's a national disaster. He's an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry that this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo has wound up where he has. He talks about how he wants to punch people in the face. Well, I'd like to punch him in the face. This is somebody that we want for president?

I don't think so. What I care about is the direction of this country And what I'm very, very worried about is that it might go in the wrong direction with someone like Donald Trump. If you care about your future, vote for it.
