Warning: This post contains spoilers for the seventh season of Game of Thrones.
Although Sansa and Jon finally took Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton again in the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones’ sixth season, it seems as though their troubles have just begun. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sophie Turner — who plays the elder Stark daughter — spoke about what viewers can expect for her character when the HBO drama returns in 2017, hinting that the comfort of victory will be short-lived.
“She’s seemingly in control for the first time – and it really suits her,” she told EW. “She’s kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she’s also becoming more insecure, because there are threats to the power that she holds.”
While it’s unclear now where those threats will stem from, judging by the glance shared between Sansa and Littlefinger when Jon was named King in the North, it appears there may be some upcoming tension between the half siblings turned cousins. Of course, there’s also the ever-looming presence of Queen Cersei as well as the arrival of Daenerys to worry about.
Turner went on to tease what’s in store for the other major players of Westeros. “What overall excites me about this season is that main characters are coming together and it feels like things are ramping up,” she said. “It’s really exciting and all feels like it’s coming to a big conclusion.”
