It was almost a year ago to the day that Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone made the world jealous of their friendship by sharing a night out on the town with Adele in New York City. Now, J. Law has revealed how the two starlets were first introduced.
During an interview with Vanity Fair for the magazine’s December issue, the 26-year-old actress said she received a text from Stone after mutual co-star Woody Harrelson — who appeared in The Hunger Games with Lawrence and Zombieland with Stone — helped them exchange numbers. “I replied, ‘F—k off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since,” Lawrence explained.
She went on to say that they then texted each other daily for an entire year: “I feel like it was our version of The Notebook—365 texts.”
However, Stone admitted that she didn’t always feel secure about Lawrence’s presence in Hollywood. “She may not even know this,” she told Vanity Fair in an email. “But there was definitely a time early on when I was like ‘OH HEY MY EGO IS GOING NUTS SHE’S SO GREAT AND VIBRANT AND TALENTED I’M SCREWED I’LL NEVER WORK AGAIN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.’ Then I chilled the f—k out—and remembered we’re completely different and there is room for everyone, even if it’s an industry that doesn’t really seem to support that idea up front.”
Lawrence put it more bluntly: “If I wasn’t her biggest fan, I would’ve Tonya Harding’d her in the kneecaps.”
