Live-action reboots are planned for animated classics like _Pinocchio,_ _Bambi_ and _The Little Mermaid_, following the releases last year of live-action versions of _Lady and the Tramp_, [_The Lion King_ ](https://time.com/5624935/new-lion-king-differences/)and _Aladdin_, among other movies. Many of the upcoming remakes, including _Mulan_, come from Disney’s famed [Renaissance period](http://time.com/3590521/disney-renaissance/), which started in 1989 and captivated a generation of viewers with songs and characters that remain influential today. Here’s every live-action movie Disney has planned through 2021. ### _Mulan_ (March 27, 2020) The tale of a Chinese woman who disguises herself as a man to fight in her father’s place during a war, _Mulan_ [returns to theaters](http://time.com/4518450/disney-sets-a-date-for-live-action-mulan-movie/) on March 27, 2020\. Chinese actor Liu Yifei, also known as Crystal Liu, will [portray the iconic warrior](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/disneys-mulan-finds-star-1061585) in Disney’s live-action remake. Rumors of whitewashing swirled when a person who claimed to have read the _Mulan_ spec script said the movie would feature a white male lead. It’s the second time Cruella De Vil will be portrayed in a live-action movie — Glenn Close played the character in the 1996 live-action _101 Dalmatians_ and the 2000 follow-up _102 Dalmatians._ ### _Pinocchio_ (TBD)  Walt Disney Productions Pinocchio might have the chance to truly become a real boy in this Disney live-action movie based loosely on the original morality tale of the puppet who is brought to life. Victoria Strouse, who co-wrote the screenplay for _Finding Dory_, will pen the script for this Disney live-action movie. ### _The Sword in the Stone_ (TBD)  Walt Disney Productions Brian Cogman, a writer-producer for HBO’s _Game of Thrones_, is set to write a live-action remake of [_The Sword in the Stone_](http://time.com/3965036/the-sword-in-the-stone-remake-game-of-thrones/), a Disney animation from 1963 that tells the story of a young King Arthur. ### _Rose Red (Snow White)_ (TBD)  Walt Disney Productions For this live-action movie, Disney is planning a revisionist take on the classic fairytale by detailing the story of Snow White’s sister, Rose Red, according to [_The Hollywood Reporter_](http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/disney-plans-live-action-film-879528). Rose Red appeared in the Grimm brothers’ original fairy tale, though she had no relation to the story of _Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs._ In the retelling, Rose Red works with the dwarves to bring Snow White back to life after she eats the poison apple. ### _Prince Charming (Cinderella)_ (TBD)  Walt Disney Productions Prince Charming comes to life in this live-action movie [focusing on the handsome prince ](http://time.com/3947750/disney-prince-charming-film/)— although it is unclear whether the plot will center on the beau of Snow White or Cinderella, since they share the same name in both original animated films. ### _Hunchback of Notre Dame_ (TBD) A _Hunchback of Notre Dame_ live-action remake is in the works at Disney, with the playwright David Henry Hwang tapped to write the movie, according to [_The Hollywood Reporter_](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/live-action-hunchback-movie-works-at-disney-1176584).
