Grammy and Oscar-winning R&B crooner John Legend surprised fans with a new single, “Love Me Now,” that pulls at the heartstrings he regularly taps with his chart-topping piano ballads. Off his upcoming album Darkness and Light, “Love Me Now” is a plea for a little more love in the vein of “All of Me.” In a Facebook Live on Thursday night, Legend even performed the song from his home.
“I’m gonna debut my new single for you. I’m gonna play it live. How bout that? That’s service, that’s love,” he said, mentioning that his wife Chrissy Teigen and daughter Luna were in the house, too. As for the song? “It’s all about, you know, just loving and living to the fullest. Don’t wait till tomorrow. Hold the people you love close to you now.”
The lyrics corroborate this thesis: “I don’t know who’s going to kiss you when I’m gone, so I’m gonna love you now, like it’s all I have,” he sings.
