The black and white photo shared by an anonymous Redditor — taken in February 1961, according to original poster [coffeeandtrout](https://www.reddit.com/r/OldSchoolCool/comments/53wjyv/my%5Fparents%5Fwedding%5Fday%5Ffebruary%5F1961%5Fi%5Fthink%5Fdad/?) — shows the groom with his arm wrapped around the bride’s waist as the two stand smiling at each other. It would be a perfectly normal wedding photo — that is, if the groom didn’t look uncannily similar to the _Bourne_ star. The picture has received nearly 6,000 upvotes since being posted Wednesday night, along with over 1,400 comments about the doppelgänger. “He’s smiling like he knows he’s Matt Damon,” user [MetalLegz](https://www.reddit.com/r/OldSchoolCool/comments/53wjyv/my%5Fparents%5Fwedding%5Fday%5Ffebruary%5F1961%5Fi%5Fthink%5Fdad/d7x3i5j) joked, while [cerberus698](https://www.reddit.com/r/OldSchoolCool/comments/53wjyv/my%5Fparents%5Fwedding%5Fday%5Ffebruary%5F1961%5Fi%5Fthink%5Fdad/d7x4zpo) chimed in with, “How many people have died saving your dad throughout the years and how many miles can he sprint flat out before his hands start to shake?” See the photo below. ```json [{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"NewsArticle","@id":"https://time.com/4504854/matt-damon-doppelganger-reddit/","mainEntityOfPage":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://time.com/4504854/matt-damon-doppelganger-reddit/"},"headline":"The Internet Can't Get Over This Old Photo of Matt Damon's Doppelgänger","datePublished":"2016-09-22T19:44:32.000Z","dateModified":"2026-04-13T07:36:54.161Z","description":"\"He's smiling like he knows he's Matt Damon\"","url":"https://time.com/4504854/matt-damon-doppelganger-reddit/","keywords":["Newsfeed","celebrities","Matt Damon"],"thumbnailUrl":"https://static.time.com/v3/assets/bltea6093859af6183b/blt49c0a1c94bc3389a/6988a72c524fc04745df9948/matt-damon.jpg?branch=production&width=1200&quality=75&auto=webp&crop=1200:675&height=675","author":[{"@type":"Person","name":"Megan McCluskey","jobTitle":"Staff Writer","url":"https://time.com/author/megan-mccluskey/"}],"articleSection":"","image":[{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://static.time.com/v3/assets/bltea6093859af6183b/blt49c0a1c94bc3389a/6988a72c524fc04745df9948/matt-damon.jpg?branch=production&width=1200&quality=75&auto=webp&crop=1200:675&height=675","width":1200,"height":675,"headline":"'Jason Bourne' Press Conference In Beijing","caption":"Matt Damon attends the red carpet during 'Jason Bourne' Press Conference at Phoenix Center on August 16, 2016 in Beijing, China.","creditText":"VCG—VCG via Getty Images","representativeOfPage":true}],"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Time","url":"https://time.com/","logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://time.com/images/logo.png","width":528,"height":156},"foundingDate":"March 3, 1923","sameAs":["https://www.facebook.com/time","https://www.instagram.com/time/?hl=en","https://twitter.com/time","https://www.pinterest.com/timemagazine"]}},{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"BreadcrumbList","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"item":{"@id":"/tag/time-section-newsfeed/","name":"Newsfeed"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"item":{"@id":"https://time.com/4504854/matt-damon-doppelganger-reddit/","name":"The Internet Can't Get Over This Old Photo of Matt Damon's Doppelgänger"}}]}] ```
