Amazon has released the trailer for Woody Allen’s new series, Crisis in Six Scenes, about a set of aging, suburban New Yorkers who find their lives rocked by the social change of the 1960s.
Allen himself stars in the show, playing a writer who is, yes, struggling to write a TV series. Miley Cyrus is also a lead, playing a flower child who hands out pot and generally mystifies Allen. Allen said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that he had first spotted Cyrus watching Hannah Montana: “Who is that girl?” he said when his kids were watching the show. “She’s got such a good delivery. You know, she snaps those lines off so well. The show is a silly little show, but she’s very good at what she does.”
Anticipation has been high for the show as Allen has been in the news in recent years for reasons other than professional accomplishments. In particular, renewed allegations that he sexually abused daughter Dylan Farrow have caused some former fans to turn away from his films.
