The San Francisco 49ers released Bruce Miller on Monday after the fullback was arrested for allegedly punching a 70-year-old man in the face, according to reports.
The NFL team announced Miller’s release in a brief statement on Twitter but did not offer any other comment on the issue. San Francisco police confirmed to KTVU that Miller was arrested in San Francisco on Monday.
Miller, 29, had apparently gotten into a scuffle at a hotel on Sunday night after he was told there were no available rooms, Sports Illustrated reports. The fullback reportedly knocked on a hotel room guest’s door and allegedly assaulted the unidentified guest when he was told he had the wrong room.
Miller also reportedly punched the guest’s 70-year-old father, who had intervened, breaking some of his bones, according to Sports Illustrated.
Information about Miller’s lawyer was not immediately available.
