Trump will travel by helicopter to the presidential palace, avoiding highway gridlock and roadside protesters, the [New York _Times_ reported](http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/31/us/politics/donald-trump-mexico.html?%5Fr=0). The meeting will take place only hours before Trump gives a [major speech in Arizona](http://time.com/4470421/donald-trump-immigration-speech-arizona/), clarifying his often-controversial stance on immigration. The Mexican president has been one of Trump’s most vocal critics, and the billionaire [confirmed in a tweet](http://time.com/4473621/donald-trump-enrique-pena-nieto-mexico/) Tuesday that he accepted an invitation to take a meeting before his Arizona speech. Trump has long called for building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, asserting that Mexico will pay for it. I was straight forward in [00:13] presenting my views about the impacts of [00:17] current trade and immigration policies. On the United [00:21] States. As you know, I love the United States very [00:26] much. And we wanna make sure that the people of the [00:29] United States are very well protected. You equally [00:35] expressed your feelings and your love for Mexico. The [00:40] United States and Mexico share a 2, 000 mile border, a [00:44] half a trillion dollars in annual trade, and 1 [00:49] million in legal border crossings each and every day. [00:54] We are united by our support for democracy. We all share a [00:57] common interest in keeping our atmosphere Safe, [01:02] prosperous and free. No one wins [01:08] in either country when human smuggler's and drug [01:12] trafficker's prey on innocent people. When [01:16] Cartel's commit acts of violence When illegal weapons [01:21] and cash flow from the United States into Mexico. [01:26] Or when migrants from Central America make the [01:29] dangerous trek, and it is very, very dangerous into [01:33] Mexico or the United States. Without legal [01:38] authorization. We did discuss the wall. We didn't discuss [01:41] payment of the wall. That will be for a later date. This was a [01:44] very preliminary meeting. I think it was an excellent [01:47] meeting and we are, I think we're very [01:51] well on our way. A lot of the things I've said are very strong [01:54] but we have to be strong. We have to say what's happening [01:56] And there is crime, as you know. There is a lot of crime. [01:59] and there is a lot of problems. But I think together we will [02:02] solve those problems. I really believe that the President [02:05] and I will solve those problems. We will get them solved [02:09] Illegal immigration is a problem for Mexico, as well as for [02:12] us.
