Florida Teen Accused of Posing as Doctor Lands Back in Jail for Alleged Fraud

2 minute read

A Florida teenager who made headlines earlier this year after he was arrested for allegedly posing as a doctor was back behind bars Monday and faces new charges of grand theft and fraud.

Malachi Love-Robinson, 19, is now accused of writing a bad check for $1,500 as a down payment for a car, according to the Associated Press. Records show he was booked in Palm Beach County Jail on Monday and was charged with larceny and fraud from an insufficient funds check.

Love-Robinson, who could not be immediately reached, was released from jail after posting an $8,000 bail. He had been out on bond after a run-in with the law earlier this year.

The teenager was arrested in February for allegedly for practicing medicine without a license. Authorities said Love-Robinson opened a medical office in West Palm Beach to solicit patients. He was arrested after he allegedly performed a physical exam on an undercover agent and offering medical advice, authorities said.

An 86-year-old victim, who allegedly was a patient of Love-Robinson, also accused the teenager of stealing thousands of dollars from her.

Earlier this year, Love-Robinson turned down a plea deal that would have sent him to prison for three years, the Palm Beach Post reports.

The teenager had said he never claimed to be a medical doctor during a February appearance on Good Morning America, which ended with him storming out of the interview.
