This Artist Is Morphing Real-Life Goddess Rihanna With Greek Deity Aprhodite

1 minute read

It’s a well-established fact that Rihanna is an all-around goddess (not to mention the world’s coolest trekkie) in real life, but music’s baddest gal will be making a classical art debut this fall with another great beauty, the Aphrodite of Knidos by Greek sculptor Praxiteles at a Cambridge University art exhibit.

Thanks to Scottish artist Reilly who merged Ri Ri’s visage with that of the classical Greek goddess in a digital collage, museumgoers will be able to see both the classic and the contemporary come together during the institution’s Recasting exhibit, which examines contemporary artists’ work in dialogue with Greco-Roman art and mythology, and opens in September.

This isn’t the first time that the Barbadian singer has been the subject of high art; recently, the singer’s image was recreated in a larger-than-life sculpture in Berlin for the Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, which Rihanna later posed with.
