Metallica have finally attached a name and release date to their long-gestating tenth studio album. According to the iconic metal band’s [website](https://metallica.com/blog/news/429181/hardwired-to-self-destruct-available-november-18-2), _Hardwired… To Self-Destruct_ will arrive Nov. 18\. The follow-up to 2008’s _Death Magnetic_ will span two discs and nearly 80 minutes of music. Metallica also debuted the title track, “Hardwired,” on Minneapolis’ 93X earlier today.

“_Hardwired…_ represents the next phase of our journey as Metallica,” the band wrote. Frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich produced the album with Greg Fidelman, who worked on Metallica’s 2011 collaborative album with Lou Reed, [_Lulu_](http://www.ew.com/article/2011/10/26/lulu-review-lou-reed-metallica), and records by bands including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, and Slipknot.

Metallica began teasing their next album in earnest last October, when Hetfield said the band was [recording new material](http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/13/metallica-confirms-recording-new-album). The following month, Ulrich [previewed](http://www.ew.com/article/2015/11/02/metallica-new-music-video-studio) a snippet of new music in a video from Metallica’s studio.

“Unless there’s an act of God, then the record should hopefully be there this year,” Ulrich told EW in April. “We’re sort of spoiled. One of the downsides of having your own studio and your own setup is that there’s nobody coming in after you to throw you out of the space.”

This spring, Metallica began the massive undertaking of reissuing their albums, and Ulrich [discussed](http://www.ew.com/article/2016/04/19/lars-ulrich-metallica-first-two-albums) their first two records — 1983’s _Kill ‘Em All_ and 1984’s _Ride the Lightning_ — with EW.
