CollegeHumor created a Stranger Things parody to poke fun at a bunch of the ’80s props from the addictive series.
For this “What Year Is It” video, CollegeHumor investigated a bunch of the throwback stuff in the show, and according to the video, some of those toys among other things weren’t exactly timely for the thriller’s official 1983 setting. In this telling, fans will notice highlights from the Duffer Brothers’ world of cool-because-it’s-so-throwback stuff, and the kids are really sweating the details.
Apparently, getting excited about an Atari present is unfortunately, so five years ago. (However that’s not a very compassionate take considering that Joyce is a single mom who works retail, and her electric bill must have been through the roof after having so many illuminating conversations with the lighting.) Luckily, the Mike of the group theorizes that there could be a perfectly logical time travel explanation for all of the anachronisms.
So it’s not on the same level of intrigue as Stranger Things, but what is?
