It’s summertime on Sesame Street and, yes, Oscar, you Grouch, that means a song. In a new clip, Big Bird strolls down the block singing all of The Fresh Prince’s rhymes while Snuffy gets in touch with his inner DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Zoe sings backup.
It’s the latest mash-up from Adam Schleichkorn, a.k.a Mylo the Cat, the editor who also brought the world Dr. Teeth singing ODB’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”, the Muppets and The Beastie Boys, as well as the Great Gonzo doing the Digital Underground’s Humpty Dance. The combination of Sesame Street, the Muppets, and DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince is an instant classic, especially as it’s catchier than their song about lead poisoning or Macklemore’s Sesame Street version of Thrift Shop.
In the video description, he explains that he was inspired by the video that Super Deluxe’s Vic Berger and actor/comedian Tim Heidecker made after they attended the Republican National Convention (watch here). Whatever the inspiration, we’re just glad this exists and hope that Big Bird stands in for Will Smith in all future endeavors, including Suicide Squad.
