Hillary Clinton made history Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention by becoming the first female presidential nominee of a major political party. That story led the front pages of newspapers across the country Wednesday, but some outlets paired their coverage of Clinton with a photo of the night’s keynote speaker, Bill Clinton.
Many took to Twitter to comment on whether it was appropriate to pair a photo of Clinton’s husband with the announcement of her nomination. Publications that led with Bill Clinton’s image, according to the Newseum’s archive of front pages, included The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post and The Houston Chronicle.
Other newspapers, such as The Chicago Sun-Times and The New York Times, led with images of Hillary Clinton or her supporters at the convention.
