Here’s How to Get More Pizza for Your Money By Using Math

1 minute read

Even if you don’t remember much from your high school math classes, you know that pizza is a circle and the best way to divide a circle is by using math. (Hopefully that didn’t kill your appetite!)

A new video from YouTube channel ASAP Science breaks down how to maximize your pizza consumption, using math. If you have an eight-inch pizza, that’s roughly 50 square inches of cheese-covered delicousness, but if you get a 16-inch pie, which is double the diameter, the area of the pizza jumps up to 200 square inches of a piping hot pepperoni and pineapple feast. For those playing along at home, that’s four times the pie.

You can take that information right to the bank, too, because it could save you money. If your neighborhood pizza parlor is charging even twice as much for a 16-inch pie than for an eight-inch one, you’re still getting a bargain. In short, the bigger diameter of the pizza, the more bang for your buck.
