[Lady Gaga](http://content.time.com/time/video/player/0,32068,81660577001%5F1986210,00.html) proved this was true when she took to Instagram on Tuesday night, following the [news that she and long-time flame Taylor Kinney called it quits](http://time.com/4413068/lady-gaga-taylor-kinney-break-up/) after five years together and getting engaged last year. While it wasn’t quite a [“conscious uncoupling”](http://time.com/3982125/gwyneth-paltrow-chris-martin-conscious-uncoupling/) statement, Gaga’s post is bittersweet, with the pop singer noting that she and Kinney “always believed we are soulmates” and that their current relationship status was “taking a break.” She then went on to write that their long-distance relationship and schedules complicated “the simple love we have always shared.” She ended by urging her fans to “Please root us on.
