In interviews at the Republican national convention, Republican delegates and activists were not bothered by similarities between Melania Trump’s speech and Michelle Obama’s. “It was two lines in a very long speech and it doesn’t concern me, it doesn’t bother me,” said one. I [00:04] didn't know that there was such a thing as plagiarizing [00:06] a spouse's speech when you talk about their family, [00:10] their dedication to one another as spouses, their [00:13] positive attributes, what they bring as a father and as [00:17] a grandfather. Probably whoever wrote the speech [00:19] isn't working [ TALKING IN BACKGROUND ] For the [00:20] trump campaign anymore. I don't put any of that on [00:24] her. I think the themes of the speeches, I mean we can [00:27] look at different political speeches over the years and [00:30] many of them have the same themes. Of course it did [00:33] sound like there was some similarities. I don't recall [00:36] hearing from Mrs. Obama; s speech was anything [00:38] about being proud to be an American. And I did hear [00:41] that from Mrs. Trump last night. It was two lines in a [00:45] very long speech, and it doesn't concern [00:49] me. It doesn't bother me. The women feel that way [00:53] about their husbands and their family. Quite frankly, I [00:56] would expect her to say those things. Just as I would [00:59] expect. Bill Clinton and Jackie Kennedy and [01:03] Nancy Reagan.
