Even Meghan Trainor Hates Dating Apps

2 minute read

Meghan Trainor is not all about those dating apps.

Despite her massive musical success, the “Dear Future Husband” singer, 22, has revealed that her love life has been lacking. “I’ve barely had relationships,” she said in a new interview with Billboard. “I had one real one when I was, like, 16 to 18, and the other ones were just meh.”

What’s she looking for in a man, you ask? Definitely someone on the mature side. “I tried to have a fling with a 29-year-old, and I thought that was old. And it wasn’t. It was very much like a little boy in the brain. So I’m looking [at] 35 and up.”

And it always helps to be a fan of her music. She claims that her last boyfriend – whom she called out in “Ain’t Your Mama,” the hit she wrote for Jennifer Lopez – didn’t even bother to download her tunes. “I don’t care if you hate pop, but support the person you claim you love. Pay that $1.29!”

She briefly turned to online dating, joining the elite relationship app Raya. “I was on it for a second and I got off. I was like, ‘Ugh, I can’t do this.’ I immediately bail when someone is like, ‘Let’s meet.’ I’m like, ‘No. Too scared.’ ”

Thankfully, her good friend Chloe Grace Moretz has her back. The 19-year-old actress has taken Trainor out on a bowling double date with her boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham – and a potential future husband.

“I want nothing more than to get her a good guy, but we’ll see,” Moretz said. “So I’m setting her up with everyone good I know.”

Relationship issues aside, Trainor also touched on issues like gun control.

“I think it’s ridiculous that random crazy people can buy guns,” she opined, before admitting that she’s not deeply steeped in politics. “I should be way more aware, and if it was [Clinton] or Trump, I’d definitely vote for her. But I’ve never voted and I don’t have any desire to.”
