Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda have released “Love Make the World Go Around,” a collaborative song created to honor the victims of last month’s Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
For Miranda’s part, he does his patented high-octane rapping, saying, “what we got is love even when the sinners hate us, we cannot let them diminish or intimidate us.” Lopez sings “we’re not saying inside today, they’re not taking our pride away,” for the dancehall style song’s hook.
All proceeds from the song will go to the Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando organization. According to the website, Proyecto Somos Orlando will “address the long-term needs for mental health services that are culturally competent and bilingual,” as well as “enable care to be delivered to those affected directly in the communities in which they live.”
Miranda debuted some of the original lyrics, which feature in the song, in the form of a sonnet during his acceptance speech at the Tony Awards last month. The song is available on iTunes for $1.28.
Watch a preview, which Miranda teased on Monday below.
