Five years after it first left its home planet, earth, NASA spacecraft Juno finally entered Jupiter’s orbit. Soon after, Google used its ever-changing logo to salute and celebrate the historic achievement.
The animated Google Doodle features the probe starting to beam down images to an ecstatic 8-bit group of scientists, replicating the scenes that played out earlier in the day.
“In satellite terms, Juno is a warrior,” Google said in a statement. “Today’s Doodle celebrates this incredible moment of human achievement.”
