In the wake of the Orlando shooting, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump came out with some vague but provocative statements about Obama’s reaction to the tragedy, implying that the Oresident was not angry enough about what happened and questioning his toughness on “radical Islam.”
Not wanting to overstate his point, Trump said he would “let people figure it out” for themselves. So Stephen Colbert busted out a “Figure-It-Out-Atron” on The Late Show Tuesday night to try to get to the bottom of what Trump was saying.
“First of all, before I figure this out, I’ve got to think like Trump,” Colbert said, “so first, I’m not gonna take my meds. Woo! Ha ha! I see patterns where none exist!”
Next, he drew lines connecting words like “Trump,” “Obama,” “not smart” and “radical Islam.” The result? A swastika linking Trump’s key phrases on the issue.
Colbert quickly erased the symbol and instead drew new lines linking the phrases that looked like an asterisk in a circle. “There’s gotta be an answer, and I don’t know what it is, but I hope Trump explains it soon, because until he does, that kind of looks like he’s an a–hole.”
