The [Quinnipiac University poll](http://www.qu.edu/news-and-events/quinnipiac-university-poll/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2352&version=meter+at+0&module=meter-Links&pgtype=article&contentId=&mediaId=&referrer=&priority=true&action=click&contentCollection=meter-links-click) found that voters preferred Clinton to Trump 45% to 41% in the November presidential race. When a [third-party candidate is added to the mix](http://time.com/4348326/gary-johnson-libertarian-party-convention/), Clinton’s lead is virtually nonexistent at some 2% of the vote, with Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson getting 5%. Where Clinton holds an advantage against Trump is with women, 54% of whom plan to vote for the Democratic candidate this fall. The poll found that 51% of men, on the other hand, plan to vote Republican. “This is a very tight race that will divide Democrats and Republicans, the young and the old, white, black and Hispanic voters – and husbands and wives – in the months ahead,” said Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, in a statement. Clinton’s Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders [fares better in a potential matchup with Trump](http://time.com/4351261/donald-trump-bernie-sanders-debate-no/), 48% to 39%, but is behind Clinton 53% to 39% among their own party. “Sen. Bernie Sanders can take solace in the fact that he leads Donald Trump, but the cold hard truth is that his own party favors Hillary Clinton,” Malloy said. Neither leading candidate is well liked, as Clinton is viewed as unfavorable by 57% of voters, while Trump is viewed by 59% as unfavorable. The Quinnipiac survey was conducted May 24-30 using a sample of 1,561 registered voters across the country with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5%. ## Transcript [00:04] I beat Hillary Clinton in many polls, the queue poll just [00:07] came out. Paid for by Mexico. That [00:41] he would somehow get the Mexican government to pay [00:45] for. We have at least 11 million people in this country [00:48] that came in illegally. They will go out. You know it's [00:51] just Fantasy. [ NOISE ] I would work quickly to present [00:56] to the Congress my plans for raising the minimum [00:59] wage. Taxes too high, wages too high. Well, you know [01:03] both Bill and I have been very blessed, neither of us [01:06] came from wealthy families, and we've worked really [01:08] hard our entire lives. I took one million dollars and I [01:11] turned it into Okay, one million ten billion dollars. I've [01:14] come up with a tax plan that many, many people like [01:17] Now- Very. [ NOISE ] They may not care much about [01:20] their lives, but they do care, believe it or not, about [01:23] their family's lives. [ APPLAUSE ] A diplomacy is not [01:25] about getting to the perfect solution- We need tough [01:29] people, we need toughness. It's about how you [01:31] balance the risk. I would bring back water boarding. [01:34] And I'd bring back a helluva lot worse, than what we're [01:37] boarding. We will not send American combats groups [01:39] back to Syria or Iraq, that is off the table. We talk [01:42] about Iran and that's one of the worst deals ever made [01:46] I'm asking people to support me because I think I'm [01:49] the most qualified, most experienced and ready [01:51] person to be the President.
