Ending a three year dry streak, The Strokes on Thursday released the new single “Oblivius” in advance of the full release of a three-song EP “Future Present Past” on June 3.
The new track keeps to The Strokes’ signature guitar sound with Julian Casablancas’ tiny, distorted vocals. You can hear the new track at the Cult Records website here.
The song debuted Thursday morning on the new monthly SiriusXMU radio show Casablancas hosts, USA Today reports.
In addition to the new song, The Strokes released a short ad for the new EP featuring retro graphics.
The indie rockers also released a meandering interview on YouTube shot like a VHS home video, all in keeping with the band’s vintage aesthetic. During the interview, which is barely about music at all, one band member challenges President Obama to a basketball game.
The band also announced a new show at the Capitol Theater in New York City on May 31. In tandem with the EP release, The Strokes are headlining The Governors Ball music festival in New York City on June 3.
