Recently, Raven-Symoné is probably most well-known for her hosting gig on The View or her recurring guest role on Black-ish, but the actress also has a passion for music. Raven has taken a step back from that industry for almost a decade, but over the weekend she made a surprise return by uploading two new songs onto her Soundcloud account.
The first is “Cruise Control,” a soaring R&B track that Raven describes as “a soft melodic transparent story of sex and speed filled with ambient sounds and undertones of sexual frustration.” Raven also put up “Sarafina,” a lingering and layered track that’s more experimental for the singer. She describes the song as “eerie sounds of melodic, fantasy vocals describing a world that can only be named Sarafina…”
Raven-Symoné began her recording career at age 7 in 1993, when she released her Missy Elliott-produced debut Here’s to New Dreams. As her acting career evolved, so did her career as a singer: She recorded soundtracks for her Disney Channel series That’s So Raven and film franchise The Cheetah Girls. Her last release was her self-titled fourth studio album in 2008.
