Jamie Bailey wasn’t at home on Monday morning, but if she had been, she would have been treated to an unexpected visitor. While the South Carolina woman was out, neighbors and passerby captured video of an alligator climbing the front door of her Moncks Corner house.
The reptile was seen scratching at the door after wandering through a few nearby yards, according to Gary Rogers, a witness who was walking his dog. “He was trying to climb the fence a couple times, tried to climb somebody’s door. It was pretty funny, actually,” Rogers told WCIV. “I didn’t know alligators could actually climb. And this alligator looked like he was really trying to make an attempt to get over the fence and into this woman’s pool in the backyard. And then when it went over to the house it kind of was up around the doorbell.”

When a neighbor texted her about the incident, Bailey said she thought she was being pranked. “I thought it was a joke,” she said. “And I couldn’t see it on the porch. And then they sent me the video front on and I was in disbelief. Couldn’t believe it. I mean who would have thought — an alligator!”
