Eurovision Song Contest’s grand final will be broadcast live on U.S. television for the first time on May 14.
According to the BBC, Viacom-owned cable network Logo reached a deal with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to air the annual TV song competition, which features entries from 42 countries and will be held in Stockholm from May 10 to 14. Past winners include Abba, Celine Dion and Austria’s Conchita Wurst.
Jon Ola Sand, an executive at Eurovision, told the BBC that he was “thrilled” the contest will be “broadcast live in one of the biggest TV markets for the very first time.”
The multicultural song extravaganza, which is billed on Logo’s website as the “biggest, boldest, campiest music competition on Earth,” has contestants from countries across Europe, including some from outside the continent, perform in front of a live audience. Each contestant is scored by a combination of an expert jury and viewer phone votes.
