An otter pup that recently made its debut at a Bronx Zoo has made a splash online with a video of the youngster swimming and hiking with its parents.
The Asian small-clawed otter born this spring does not have a name yet. The species — considered vulnerable — can be found in India, the Philippines, Taiwan, and parts of southern China, according to the zoo.
Otters’ “elongated bodies and webbed feet make it easy for them to propel through the water,” according to a statement. “They have dexterous paws that aid in finding and consuming food, and their fur is extremely dense and waterproof for temperature regulation.”
