A survey released Thursday by [America’s Voice and Latino Decisions](http://www.latinodecisions.com/files/7014/6125/7781/AV%5FWave%5F1%5F2016%5FNatl%5FPosted.pdf) found that 48% of Hispanic voters said they were more enthusiastic about voting this fall than they were in 2012, while just 31% said they were more inspired in 2012. Of the voters who are more enthusiastic, 41% said they wanted to vote against Trump and fight back against what they see as anti-immigrant forces. By comparison, just 4% said they were excited to vote for the first Hispanic president, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who is battling Trump for the Republican nomination, and 3% said they were motivated to vote against Cruz. Trump did poorly in other questions on the survey, too, with 79% saying they had a “very unfavorable” view of the real estate mogul, and 78% saying that [Trump’s views on immigration](http://time.com/4140698/donald-trump-interview/) made them less likely to vote for a GOP candidate in the general election. Since announcing last June, Trump has campaigned on a promise to [deport illegal immigrants by force and build a wall with Mexico](http://time.com/4281926/donald-trump-mexico-border-wall-explanation/). After losing the 2012 election, the Republican National Committee issued an [“autopsy” report](http://time.com/4230322/two-visions-for-the-gop/) for the party, which identified [reaching out to Hispanic voters as crucial to GOP success moving forward](http://time.com/4089907/latino-republicans-cruz-trump/?iid=sr-link1). The survey was conducted by interviewing 2,200 registered Hispanic voters between April 3 and April 13\. Interviews were conducted in English or Spanish via telephone interviews and online surveys, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.1 percent. ## Transcript I beat Hillary Clinton in many polls, the queue poll just came out. America didn't stop being great. We have to make it whole again. I'm the only one that beats Hillary Clinton. I have not started on Hillary yet. Believe me, I will start soon. [ APPLAUSE ] I haven't even started. If you don't get an actual check From the Mexican government for 8 or 10 or $ 12 billion, whatever it will cost. How are you going to make them pay for the wall? I will. He's talking about a very tall wall. And the wall just got ten feet taller. That would run the entire border. Paid for by Mexico. That he would somehow get the Mexican government to pay for. We have at least 11 million people in this country that came in illegally. They will go out. You know it's just Fantasy. [ NOISE ] I would work quickly to present to the Congress my plans for raising the minimum wage. Taxes too high, wages too high. Well, you know both Bill and I have been very blessed, neither of us came from wealthy families, and we've worked really hard our entire lives. I took one million dollars and I turned it into Okay, one million ten billion dollars. I've come up with a tax plan that many, many people like Now- Very. [ NOISE ] They may not care much about their lives, but they do care, believe it or not, about their family's lives. [ APPLAUSE ] A diplomacy is not about getting to the perfect solution- We need tough people, we need toughness. It's about how you balance the risk. I would bring back water boarding. And I'd bring back a helluva lot worse, than what we're boarding. We will not send American combats groups back to Syria or Iraq, that is off the table. We talk about Iran and that's one of the worst deals ever made I'm asking people to support me because I think I'm the most qualified, most experienced and ready person to be the President. If I'm elected to be President We will win and we will win and we will win. Thank you.
