Teen Accepted to All 8 Ivy League Schools

1 minute read

There must be something in the water at Elmont Memorial High School: for the second year in a row, a senior from the Long Island school has been accepted to all eight Ivy League schools.

Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna found out last Thursday that she’d been accepted not only to the eight Ivies, but also to MIT, Johns Hopkins, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and NYU. Uwamanzu-Nna, who is the class valedictorian, said in a statement on her school district’s website that she is “humbled” and “reminded that I have a responsibility to be a role model for others and use my experiences to encourage and inspire others, especially young women.”

Last year, fellow Elmond Memorial High School student Harold Ekeh was also accepted to all eight Ivies, plus a few other schools; he chose to attend Yale.

Uwamanzu-Nna has until May 1 to choose between the schools. She will seek to pick one that allows her to combine her scientific interests, which include environmental science and biochemistry.
