Adam Lambert took to Twitter in the early hours of Wednesday morning to promote the release of his new track “Welcome to the Show,” a slow but driving number that also features vocals from the Swedish-Iranian pop singer Laleh.
Lambert has been a fixture of American airwaves since his run on the eighth season of American Idol in 2009. When he released his third album, The Original High, last summer, he introduced his fans to a more mature soulful sound carried by a heavier synthpop bass. “Welcome to the Show” is in that vein. It’s sweeping and almost dreamy; Lambert’s and Laleh’s vocals balance out its slower cadence with airy vocals.
