Harrison Ford Will Star in a New Indiana Jones Movie

1 minute read

Harrison Ford isn’t ready to retire his fedora quite yet. Disney announced Tuesday that Ford will reunite with director Steven Spielberg for a fifth Indiana Jones movie to be released on July 19, 2019.

The announcement comes after Ford’s return to the Star Wars franchise helped The Force Awakens, break just about every record at the box office—and made Ford the highest-grossing actor in U.S. box office history. Disney (who owns Star Wars) is likely hoping Ford will do the same for the Indiana Jones franchise. The previous four films combined grossed $2 billion dollars.

Ford will be 77 years old when the still untitled Indiana Jones movie premieres, 38 years after Raiders of the Lost Ark hit theaters. Perhaps Jones’ view on snakes has changed in the last four decades.

No word yet on whether Shia LaBeouf will reprise his role as Jones’ son from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
