Waxman Staff Writer Feb 18, 2016 5:44 PM UTC Ryan Reynolds, star of the new Marvel film _Deadpool_, got dunked for charity on _The Ellen DeGeneres Show_ to raise $25,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which hosts trips and experiences for terminally-ill children. It only took the comedian a few tries before he got dunked in the water tank. The cause is related to his latest role because Deadpool, whose real name is Wade Wilson, is a [“former Special Forces operative turned mercenary”](http://www.foxmovies.com/movies/deadpool) who was [diagnosed](http://time.com/4219431/review-ryan-reynolds-deadpool/) with an incurable cancer after getting engaged to Vanessa (Morena Baccarin).
