A lock of John Lennon’s hair, that was trimmed 50-years-ago from his iconic noggin, has gone on sale with bids already topping $12,000.
The lock was snipped by hairdresser Klaus Baruck in Hamburg, Germany, just before the Beatles singer began filming How I Won The War in September 1966. The lock is “is approximately 4 inches and likely contains hundreds of strands” according to a description written by Dallas-based auction house, Heritage Auction, which is selling the unique item. “To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest lock of Lennon’s hair ever sold at auction.”
The auction concludes on Feb. 20.
