Ammon Bundy, the leader of an armed standoff in Oregon, sent a message to law enforcement on Thursday, releasing a recording from the Multnomah County Jail in Portland.
“Go home, Oregon State Police. You have already killed enough,” Bundy said in the message. “Go home, FBI. It is time to end this.”
In the recording, Bundy said he is in solitary confinement and has learned he was indicted. He was charged with one count of conspiracy to impede U.S. officers, according to NBC News.
“I ask the question, what are a people to do? This is what you get when government officials ignore the people,” Bundy said.
The group has occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge for weeks, protesting federal land use in the Western United States.
Bundy spoke out through his attorney last week after a protestor was killed by police in an armed standoff that also led to Bundy’s arrest. In the statement, he asked remaining protesters to surrender and end to the armed occupation.
