The Vermont senator and Democratic presidential hopeful appeared with the band at the end of the rally at the University of Iowa to belt out the tune by Woody Guthrie, [the New York _Times_ reports](http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2016/01/30/sanders-rallies-iowa-students/). “You know we got to play one more for Bernie, right?” a band member says, according to video of the performance. “We know he likes this one.” Vampire Weekend singer Ezra Koenig later called Sanders a “once-in-a-lifetime candidate,” [according to _Rolling Stone_](http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/watch-bernie-sanders-sing-with-vampire-weekend-at-iowa-rally-20160131).
